As we explore two types of energy in our new Science unit - Light and Sound - we are having lots of fun experimenting as we learn about the properties of light.
To determine the trajectory of light, students used flashlights to try to hit a target with the light - but they had to get the light through 3 holes first! They figured out that light travels in a straight line, so they needed to align the holes to reach the target.
We then experimented with the reflective property of light and used mirrors to reflect the light to hit targets. We also experimented with shadows as we did silhouettes and shadow animals. We're really enjoying how hands-on science can be!
We also have been experimenting with the properties of sound, linking it often with music. Check out a video of our "pop music" using glass water bottles! The different amounts of water produce different lengths of sound waves, creating higher and lower pitches!
