I am a committed volunteer:
My passion for helping others has taken me all around the world - in Mexico, I especially loved teaching English to families who live on a garbage dump to equip them with the language they need to get jobs off the dump. This life-changing experience really made me understand the value of second language teaching.

I've also had some fun adventures here in Ottawa volunteering with a variety of organizations. One of the highlights for me was launching and running free themed day camps and community events in Vanier - I think I had just as much fun as the kids did!
Through these experiences, I have seen the effectiveness of integrating themes, games, drama, music, and art to create fun and engaging projects and lessons that communicate the key message while maintaining the students' attention and motivation.

I am a family girl:
I absolutely love to spend time with my family and really love the memories we have made around the world - these travel experiences have broadened my cultural understanding and made my life richer. Our last trip to Europe has made our grade 4 social studies curriculum come alive to me!
This is me with my parents and sister in Rome.

I am a teacher in many settings:
With the Canadian Red Cross, I have had many priceless opportunities to share what I have learned about teaching and caring for others with the next generation. As a Water Safety, Babysitting, and People Savers Instructor Trainer, I have found it extremely rewarding to share from my experiences to best prepare future swim and first aid instructors to effectively teach their learners.
These experiences as well as tutoring, running the children's programs at my church, and volunteering and assistant teaching in classrooms at Mutchmor and First Avenue Public Schools over the past 10 years have taught me the importance of putting students' needs first and creating engaging, relevant, and authentic learning opportunities.
